Cougar varsity baseball is for homeschool students ages 15-18 years old (9th-12th gr.) who love the game of baseball and have the drive, determination, and agility for the sport. Fundamentals of the game, including throwing, pitching, hitting mechanics, as well as, game strategy are taught during the season.
Spring season baseball starts with Pre-season workouts begining at the end of January followed by tryouts in mid-February. Rostering a team of 14-15 all male players the games for the spring season baseball start in the last week in March and go through end of May. There are also oppertunities to play in the summer season for baseball that run mid-June through July (5-6 weeks) and do not require tryouts.
This is high school level baseball that primarily competes at the Varsity level, however, some JV level games are scheduled as well. Cougar varsity baseball spring season competes against a variety of public and private schools in the Greater Kalamazoo area. The Cougars also participate in the Homeschool World Series in Indiana, mid-May.
This program is led by Coach Dave Ferry who has coached the Cougars baseball for the last four seasons.
